AJ here with Stronglife Physiotherapy. If you have plantar fasciitis you know what a pain it can be. In this video I’m going to show you a simple stretch to get some quick relief which for many people completely relieves the pain Plantar fasciitis can go on for months or years if left untreated The same types of stretches tend to be prescribed over and over again and they can help But there’s one stretch that is particularly effective and is the opposite of what they usually tell you to do So, try this stretch before spending a lot of money on orthotics, or using an immobilizing boot or trying surgery which can be a disaster or steroid injections which help short term but long term can make you worse and even cause you to rupture your plantar fascia! This is an easy stretch to do Just bring your foot up on your opposite leg and stretch your toes and ankle down Hold for a few second and repeat 10-20 times. You should feel a good stretch on the top of your foot and up on your shin. You can also do this stretch be getting on your bed, couch or the ground and sitting on your heels. If you need to you can put a pillow underneath you to make it more comfortable. Try to stay in this position for 1 to 3 minutes A lot of people get significant relief after just one time doing this stretch.
