Todrick Hall Struts into KINKY BOOTS on Broadway

I am so excited to be joining the cast of KINKY BOOTS as Lola. This is a dream come true. I’ve always been a fan of Billy Porter and Wayne Brady. I’m a huge fan of Alan Mingo and it’s such a flattering opportunity for me to be able to step into these heels. I always dreamed that I would be on Broadway but I never in a million years imagined that I would be taking over such an iconic role. The first time I put on the boots, I literally felt like I was Blue Ivy stepping into Beyoncé’s heels for the first time. I grew up in Texas in a small town where people didn’t understand me and I had to go through a lot of situations that are very similar to what Lola goes through in this show. It’s heart-wrenching and it’s easy for me to tap into that place because I’ve experienced a lot of these scenes in my everyday life. People who have lived this story in their own lives come to the show and they recognize that it’s being acknowledged and that there is someone onstage that represents them. It’s so important for people to go see entertainment that reminds them of of the core values of what we as humans should be and that’s just to love every single person no matter what shape, size, or how tall their heel is!

  1. Beautiful… But keep todricks makeup the same as he looked on rupaul drag race all Stars 2… Omg he looked bad ass on rupaul.

  2. Gawd, I love Todrick! So proud of his success. But can I just nitpick for a second? GET SOME HIP PADS AND BLEND THAT HIGHLIGHT ON THE FOREHEAD FOR FUCKSAKE!! 🙂 Thanks, love you Todrick! 🙂

  3. I've always thought that Todrick would be a good Lola and I think he'll be amazing. I saw Wayne Brady and he was great too (I really wish I'd seen Billy Porter)

  4. Does anyone else think this is complete bullshit? You are dancing around lip-synching to someone else's recorded words, Billy Porter's words, because you yourself do not have enough talent beyond a half-baked "visual album" on youtube that is just a confounded, crusty M E S S and now you want to try and establish a name for yourself on broadway? Girllll, fuckin' BYE. I don't give a rat's ass what product endorsement bullshit loophole deal you greased up and slipped through to get this role but you are NOT a broadway star, you are NOT talented, and you are NOT worth my time.

See you in 10 years on some trashy wannabe celebrity rehab TV series. #bye

  5. I am so very happy for you, Toddy. You have worked hard and deserve the role of Lola. I wish I still lived in NYC so I could see the show. I know you will be awesome. Lots of love and good wishes to you.

  6. This is the best casting for any musical I've ever seen. Todrick AND Brendon. This is going to be amazing!
